“Welcome to Dekle Beach”

HISTORY

According to local historians, Dekle Beach was acquired and developed by Perry, Florida businessman and politician Gus J. Dekle sometime in the mid 1940s.

Mr. Dekle (pictured on the right) was the owner of Dekle Motor Company, a local Chevrolet dealership, as well as a previous member of the City Council of Perry and a member of the Florida House of Representatives during the 1940s and 1950s. Continued here

About Dekle Beach

Dekle Beach is a genuine slice of old Florida, a hidden gem mostly undiscovered by outsiders, just waiting to be explored! Enjoy opportunities for outdoor activities such as fishing, scalloping, catching crabs or just old-fashioned family fun in the shallow creek that creates the Dekle Beach loop (dubbed by the residents as “Crab Creek”).

For those of us fortunate enough to have grown up here, and those fortunate enough to live here now, we think of Dekle Beach as a little bit of Heaven on Earth. We like to think of Dekle Beach as a time machine that transports us back to the days when things were slower, friendlier and a lot more simple. All of the awesome activities available here were (and are) the canvas on which we painted priceless memories of the endless summer days of our childhood. You find out real quick that around here everyone is family… as the matter of fact, if you hang around long enough, you might just get adopted!

So if you are ever in our neck of the woods, stop by and say howdy! We’d love to meet you… But be warned, because just like the hotel out there in California that the Eagles cautioned you about, many of our visitors never leave! And that’s because once you got a little Dekle in your blood, we promise you’ll want to call this place home!
